Grab Your Family and Take a Ride on the Cape May-Lewes Ferry

Of all the fun things to do in Rehoboth Beach, many of them center around the water. Whether you want to spend your days relaxing at the beach, eating at a waterfront restaurant, or exploring the local lighthouses, there’s a good chance the water is just a stone’s throw away. But one of the best and most unique ways to experience the water is by taking a trip on the Cape May-Lewes Ferry! This attraction is just minutes away from our Delaware Beaches vacation rentals and gives you the perfect way to get your family outside together.

About the Ferry

When you hop aboard the Cape May-Lewes Ferry, you’re in for an incredible experience. You’ll have a breathtaking view as you sail across the Delaware Bay and look out for the beautiful lighthouses, magnificent marine life, majestic seabirds, and fellow boats throughout the waters. In addition to the ferry itself, you can also browse the gift shop or get competitive in a free round of mini-golf with your family!

The Cape May-Lewes Ferry sails every single day, making it an awesome attraction to visit no matter when you’ve planned your Delaware Beaches vacation! Your trip will usually take about 1.5 hours for each one-way crossing, so each round-trip adventure will last around 3 hours.

Dining

If you’re hungry before you board the ferry or once you arrive back after your trip, there are some delicious restaurants for you to grab a bite to eat. On the Lewes side, you’ll find Grain on the Rocks, which serves up lunch and dinner. Their menu is full of all kinds of delicious entrees, from the caprese pasta to lobster mac and cheese to the classic fish and chips. They also offer wings, salads, wraps, soups, sandwiches, burgers, and more! Not to mention, all this delicious food comes with a complimentary view of the stunning waters.

On the Cape May side, you’ll find the On the Rocks restaurants inside the terminal. Though it’s currently closed for the winter season, you can still find some grab-and-go items in the terminal. But what if you’re hungry while you’re on board? No worries! The ferry has an indoor grab-and-go area with pre-packaged snacks, light meals, and drinks.

Pricing

The price you pay to board the ferry will depend on a couple different factors. First, the ferry takes both foot passengers (those just walking on board) as well as cars. Additionally, there are different rates depending on the season, as well as if you’re planning a one-way trip or round trip.

Passenger and driver fares for the winter (through March) are incredibly affordable, starting at just $8 per adult for one-way and $14 for a round trip. Seniors are $6 and $11, respectively, and children under 14 are always free. For vehicle fares, cars are $21 for one-way and $38 for a round trip. Prices for the summer season may be different and will be released closer to April.
