Lock Blockers – Tips From a Pro

Tip from a Pro!

I visited a local locksmith recently to get a key cut. I proudly shared my success at lubricating a sticky lock with graphite.

Noooooooooooooooooo!

Say what now?

Dude, never, ever use graphite in a lock. It will crystalize and block the lock ruining it. Use a silicone lubricant, always.

At the beach our door hardware takes a beating – eroding and getting gummed up by salt. They require frequent TLC. So, dudes, don’t listen to the thousands of YouTube videos that tell you to put graphite in a lock. Use a silicone lubricant instead. This advice came from the dude who stood to make more money from me by supplying new locks after I ruin them. I trust that dude.
