The Encampment Grounds

Encampment Grounds Rehoboth Beach

This is where the City of Rehoboth began.

Located in the four plus blocks of South Rehoboth, alongside the Rehoboth-Lewes Canal (to the west) and nestled between the Country Club Estates neighborhood (to the east); the SchoolVue neighborhood to the south; and Rehoboth Avenue at the Canal Bridge at the entrance to town to the north. The original Methodist Camp Grounds which were the first land use in the City of Rehoboth occupied this neighborhood.

Slowly the neighborhood transformed into unheated summer cottages, then onto the current mix of single family beach cottages, large single family homes, town homes, and condos. Stop across Rehoboth Avenue to the Rehoboth Beach Museum at Grove Park and catch up on this historic part of town.

This community offers affordable options for vacation rentals in a quiet residential neighborhood. The boardwalk and beach is a 30 minute walk. The restaurants and shops of the town center are a 20 minute walk.
