Location, location….plus room to breathe

Blue Horizon is the 4th rental property my family has stayed in over the past 5 or 6 years, and it will be our go-to spot for coming summers. The location cannot be beat: it is located right in the heart of Rehoboth Beach. We loved heading down to Jam (the restaurant on the first floor of the property) every night for happy hour and snacks. There was a bit of restaurant-related noise, but nothing that was actually disturbing to our sleep or good time.
The space itself worked well for my family of 4, with 2 tweens. The spiral staircase would make it inappropriate for young families, or anyone with mobility issues, because there’s a LOT of going up and down those steep stairs. The third-floor space is airy and comfortable, and the top deck is a great place to catch a sea breeze. We generally ate in the kitchen, because it is a pain to schlep food and drinks up the spiral staircase. The entire unit felt very fresh and clean this summer, and it is furnished simply and comfortably, without cramming rooms full of furniture. As someone who is most relaxed in a minimalist setting, it worked for me.
Speaking of the kitchen: with a little digging, we found everything we needed for breakfasts and picnics (we ate all our dinners out, around town). It is very well stocked with gear (yay! Blender drinks!), but completely devoid of the staple foods I generally have found in rentals (salt, pepper, maybe some cooking oil, maybe a bag of coffee). Keep that in mind when you stock up on beach food. You’ll also want to bring your own knives, if you care about such things. You know who you are.
We loved having the chair/umbrella service included in our rental, and did use the pool once or twice.
The criticisms we had of the space were mostly due to our own preferences: we’d have loved an outdoor shower to help with sand management, and we wished for a significantly firmer mattress in the master bedroom. Other than that, it is a nice balance of space, amenities, and value.
Blue Horizon was a charming home base for a wonderful week at the beach. We’ll be back!

Thank you for your reservation and for your feedback. I have passed it along to the property owner’s representative.
Regarding food prep items (oils, spices etc) – we do not include these in any of our rentals since we never use them ourselves when we travel if they are present. We’re never sure how old they are and how long they’ve been there. Instead we work with our property owners to ensure that budget is allocated on adequate kitchen equipment supplies for cooking, baking, and dining.
Hope to see you again!
Thanks, Andy, Rental Manager.
